Goosenecks State Park
GREAT PLACE FOR AN OVERNIGHT STOP WITH SOME FANTASTIC VIEWS. BEST TRAVEL TIMES DURING SPRING AND FALL.
A 1000 ft deep chasm carved by the San Juan river, where it meanders back and forth on its way toward the Colorado river. This primitive park offers a spectacular view of this amazing natural phenomenon. Monument Valley lies in the distance. There are no formal hiking trails, but you can hike along the rim for miles. Bikes are permitted on public roads only. Goosenecks State Park can be intensely hot during summer months and there is no shade anywhere. Elevation: 4,500 feet.
