Just received a dozen puck lights; these 12V LED light fixtures are the main lighting source inside the van. The main advantage of these LED lights is their energy consumption; with about three watts per light, you can leave them on without worrying about a dead battery. While made in China, they seem to be… Continue reading 12V Led Light Fixtures

Deckfill Testing & Murphy Bed Magnets
Replacing the leaking fill dish of the fresh water tank in the RV with a marine type deckfill and testing if it works. In addition, I worked on my small oil painting as a simple interior decorating idea for the RV and I placed multiple N52 Neodymium magnets into the legs of the Murphy bed,… Continue reading Deckfill Testing & Murphy Bed Magnets
Deckfill As Water Inlet
The recent failure of the fresh water fill dish led me to try out a Marine deckfill. Similar to a fill dish, the deckfill comes with a rubber seal, which should prevent water from exiting the fresh water tank. While very similar, it comes with its own peculiarities; where the filldish uses a 1.25 inch… Continue reading Deckfill As Water Inlet
Neodymium Magnets In The Murphy Bed Legs
I’m putting the finishing touches on the Murphy bed and added two strong magnets to each leg. The legs of the fold down bed have to be secured in two places. When the bed is pulled down, the legs should be extended and held in a 90 degree position and not over-extend.
Ceiling Insulation & Art Work
Watch all my videos on YouTube! Got a good start with the ceiling insulation of the van and continued work on the oil painting that will brighten up the van. The insulation consists of three layers of 1/2 inch Poly-Iso with an R-value of close to 10. I would prefer a fourth layer that also… Continue reading Ceiling Insulation & Art Work
RV Ceiling Insulation
It was time to add some insulation to the ceiling of the van, now that with the Murphy bed installation, access to the ceiling is closing up. I already made the decision to use primarily Poly-Iso and Denim insulation and started to fill the ceiling cross-members with Denim. The cross-members allow for approximately 1-1/2 inch… Continue reading RV Ceiling Insulation
Picture Frame & Canvas
Watch all my videos on YouTube! In an effort to finish the driver’s side of the interior, I prepared a molding for the bottom of the Murphy bed and started to replace the fill dish and hoses at the fresh water tank. The wardrobe side wall also got a Formica finish. In addition, I started… Continue reading Picture Frame & Canvas
Murphy Bed Legs
Watch all my videos on YouTube! In the coming weeks, I’ll be finishing the Murphy bed. Today I move the bed back into the van; it’s time to take some final measurements and add the legs. I use a similar pivot mechanism on both legs and some magnets to keep the legs in place when… Continue reading Murphy Bed Legs
Flexible Solar Panel Update
A very short update about the flexible solar panels from Link Solar. Many of these flexible panels on the market today, are of a low quality, but with the arrival of ETFE laminates and high quality Backcontact solar cells, I took a gamble on these improved panels. Now, about six months after the original installation,… Continue reading Flexible Solar Panel Update
